I do this meme every year, as a kind of personal marker, and my brain is just stupified enough for this to be all the effort I can manage:

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Redecorated a house. Became a landlord. Stayed in a yurt. Visited Tangiers. Attended an ayahuasca ceremony. Met a movie monarch. met a shaman. Got lost in a medieval rabbit warren. Tried an older-than-medieval witch's brew. Visited an older-than-older-than-medieval temple to Neptune. Saw neolithic cave paintings. Read the poems of Hafez al-Shiraz. Discovered the joys of niche perfumery. A good year for new experiences now that I think about it.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My time management and administration fell by the wayside late in the year as exhaustion took over. My resolutions for next year will be few but determined: I will keep up with the friends I am missing. And I will choose one aim a week and carry it out without getting tangled up in multi tasking.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
The lovely sarahfeeney of course, plus I am waiting to hear news from erstwhile Wolf Queen Jan. Anyone else, I apologise with all my heart for forgetting, I'm a bit braindead right now.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
Spain twice and Morocco all too briefly. Scotland, very soon I hope!

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Satisfactory completion

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 1st for a pretty incident with a green man. July 11th for a strange yet satisfying birthday.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Keeping my cool when necessary.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Keeping my paperwork when necessary

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Only now really. Tired, tired, tired.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Guitar Hero III for my boyfriend. I've never seen him enjoy a crimbo pressie so much!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
larians for being so jovial and upbeat with my mother and family. Various friends for being generous and supportive, I hope you know who you are! Thank you so much x

13. Whose behaviour left you depressed and appalled?
Someone very silly.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Gordon's eaten it.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
A beeeeeeg meeting!

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Almost Lost Detroit - Gil Heron

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier though too knackered to express it.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner
c) richer or poorer? marginally richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing, shooting footage, seeing friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Fretting

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Working, followed by some quality time with lover and kittens.

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I'm inevitably in love with something. Right now it's my partner, my pussycats, and a strange light in my head!

22. How many one-night stands?
Not much standing involved. For all other details, ask larians

23. What was your favorite TV program?
West Wing and Life On Mars, so nothing that's actually on the box this year.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, but I'm cooler towards people with obvious issues. Life's too short.

25. What did you want and get?
Our beloved tom cat, Ralik, back after losing him for 5 weeks. Plus, new kittens Dervish and Mismatch!

28. What did you want and not get?
Mo' money!

29. What did you do on your birthday?
I spent it in Granada with my mother's family, ate delicious food, drank the witch's brew mentioned above and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
An ongoing issue that will only be talked about when/if it's ever realised!

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Half woman half binbag

33. What kept you sane?
Bloody-mindedness and excellent friends. For the first time since I started this journal I can report that family were pretty groovy too.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No-one. Too knackered to look!

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Nucrime, or the multiplication of fingsitisrongtodoinbrittun (I'm enjoying mispelling before it's made criminally culpable)

36. Who did you miss?
Everyone. I seem to have spent most of 2008 in a tv studio cupboard.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008; Better an outright enemy than an envious friend.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Johnny you rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard.
'Cos hells broke loose in Georgia and the devil deals it hard.
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold.
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.

-Devil went down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels

Fantastic news, thank you!

And thank you for being one of those friends who kept us going throughout the year. Without you and your lovely hubby, we'd have been sunk; the move might never have happened.

You are loved and missed xxx
