Mothers Day and the Weekend

There's seldom much for me to say of Mother's Day. I recall visiting my mum's flat in Granada last summer; it's elegant and only unusual in its lack of electricity, light or heat. This is my mother's preference, as opposed to some terrible poverty-led measure. As coached by my aunt, it's all right for my brother to know as long as he never mentions it, but it is my mother's express wish that I do not know; she seems to think I will worry needlessly, more, she thinks that if no-one tells me I will just wander the place unaware of anything odd; my family's faith in my gormlessness is absolute. The surreal result was that of my bimbling hopelessly round the house commenting on flowers, photos, objets d'art, the view from the windows, indeed anything at all except the obvious (Why isn't the cooker working? Bit dark in here innit?) I only once made a gaff when I requested to use the toilet. On seeing my brother's warning shake of the head up towards the switch torn out of the wall, I changed my mind and said I wasn't in the mood. She believed me because I was always a contrary child.

One day I will write this properly.

I've got loads to write, but I'm too tired! larians and I spent a brilliant weekend in the company of littlemiscowboy, evilwillow, cyanidemigraine and Bruce sans Lj. We ate very good foodyfudfud, talked endlessly about Calais (one of cyanidemigraine's strange headthings) oohed and aahed at young Garrett who appears to be turning into a Kung-fu tiger, and made plans for getting together again. Thanks for gorgeous hospitality, lovely people. You all look great, but it's been way too long:-)

I was merely sitting staring at my carrots when you started talking about your 40th birthday and doom. Suddenly your pathological hatred of Calais turned up, clearly a karmic issue. I feel it may be because you were once Queen 'Bloody' Mary and you lost Calais to the French. If you don't deal with it, it will deal with you...
