Without Food

It's fascinating in a gruesome way. This will be my third day without food. My body has stopped behaving disgracefully, but my stomach's got some kind of vigilante bouncer thing going on, letting nothing in except water, and only a little at a time. When I really splash out, I add a tint of orange squash to it, but that's got to be infrequent. Waves of nausea rise but don't lead to anything.

The funny thing is, I don't need to eat. I had one hunger pang last night, small, barely noticeable, then it disappeared. And I am not hungry now. It's in my head that I would fancy a cup of coffee, but it's not a need, not a hankering or craving. I'm OK without. I had headaches for the past two days and they seem to have stopped.

The whole thing has been quite a system shock. To some extent it is unfortunate that this has happened so close to our Whitby visit, as I can't help thinking that the best way back to health for both of us, when we can eat at all, would be small portions of boiled rice, steamed veg and banana, while Whitby is going to be about absinthe and fish and chips. I say 'both of us' because poor larians had to come home from work early yesterday having been struck down by the same hideousness. We spent Friday night in bed watching The Black List and various clips from Mock the Week.

He questions the guilt of the dried egg, but he did have some, so it's not out of the question. If it's not that, it'll be this winter's latest virus; you'll know you have it if you feel like there's a big plastic bag in your stomach, and you keep stretching out your achey legs to ease pressure on your tum.

But I hope this son-of-a-bitch is a result of dodgy dried egg, and ends asap. It's not something I would want to pass on to anybody.

Ava had a tummy upset a while back, but it seemed to get worse, rather than better. I took her to the docs and it turned out that it had upset her tummy so much that she had become lactose intolerant! After a few days it wore off and she was back to normal. I don't think I'll ever get over the memories though!

Hope you're both well soon xxx

Thank you from us both
...poor man is still in bed. He ventured some toast earlier, I wasn't convinced of his wisdom.

Ava's upset sounds drastic, I'm glad she's past that, and the lactose intolerance. I am conscious that cow's/ewe's/goat's milk might be too much for me at first, so have ordered soya milk. The man screwed up his face at me for suggesting it!

She only drinks milk and water, so that worried me a bit, but the chocolate was a killer. It's not that she has it often, but it's great bribery if I'm desperate! I had no idea that could happen, although now it sounds quite logical. My sister advises mashed banana on toast!

Must have been the Dried Egg.

If it's clear fluids, I commend adding a splash of elderflower cordial to the water.
